Savannah moved into Bella's room a couple of weeks ago and, for the most part, she made the transition fairly easily. Of course, some nights are easier than others (especially if she doesn't nap during the day). That particular bedroom doesn't have a door up, rather it has a curtain separating it from the playroom. It didn't take Savannah long to realize how easy it is to slide the curtain over to exit the room..but usually she'll only get up a couple of times before settling down for the night. Bella is old enough to "follow the rules" and therefore *knows* to stay put, no matter what Savannah is doing. When there's no nap involved Savannah goes right to sleep within minutes but to be honest she's really not ready to completely break her nap. Typically her mornings begin around 6:30A so by lunch time she's wearing down. A couple of times per week she'll sleep until 7:30A and it's on those days that she ends up refusing to nap. I *always* put her upstairs for nap though, even when I know she won't sleep. I think it's important for all of the kids to have some "down time".
I'm going to sign both Kyle and Bella up for Vacation Bible School at St. Brendan's in June. It's a week long program that runs from 8:30A-11:30A. While Bella's never been before, Kyle has gone for a couple of years in a row now and always seems to enjoy it. With Bella's 5th Birthday fast approaching the time has come to get her a little more exposure to the outside world without me and/or Jim always by her side. I'm also going to email my friend about the various Rec programs, although I doubt we'll be able to afford any. It's worth checking into though -- the Rec used to offer pretty reasonable rates. Kyle has attended Karate Camp for a week in the past but at $150 it's out of our price range now. I only have Tommy for a couple more weeks. I don't make much money with him, but it's typically enough to cover the cost of our weekly groceries. That being said, I think I will bank my pay (starting this week) for the remainder of my time with him and use that towards activities for the kids this summer..maybe for something like the Rec programs. I am also trying to decide if I want to venture into the world of Girl Scouts with Bella. I'm on the fence right now. I can't make a final decision for a little while anyways, not until the house comes off the market at the end of July.
Jim will be taking off some time this summer - we're going to head to Vermont over the 4th of July and then we're going to Maine for a week at the end of July. Jim has decided to reschedule his race so that will take up yet another weekend in July.
Suffice to say, our calendar is already filled up for most of the summer! My Mom bought us a zoo membership so I'd like to take advantage of that as much as possible. In fact, if Jim doesn't have to work this morning maybe we will go today.
