Our house is officially on the market, complete with a For Sale sign out on the front lawn. Do we think we're going to sell/buy this year? Nope. The market changed so quickly and is no longer in our favor but we still decided to list the house anyways, just to see what happens. We are under no financial obligations whatsoever. It costs us nothing to list the house. We negotiated specific terms with Patty (our Realtor) - instead of listing for the usual 6 months she has agreed to only list our house for 3 months, per our request. If we do not sell/buy by July then the house comes off the market and we will re-evaluate the market in a year or so. If a potential buyer comes in and is interested in the house we are under no obligation to sell it. Selling this house is completely contingent to us buying a house...all at the same time. Good luck to us, right? hahaha! In all honesty I'm not even remotely stressed. We're doing everything in a slow, laid back manner. Whatever happens, happens and whatever doesn't, doesn't!
Tomorrow we are going to look at 2 houses in Rehoboth but that's all that we have lined up for now. Until we find something of interest I've asked Patty not to bother doing any Open Houses over here - I don't want to waste anyone's time - ours, hers or potential buyers.
I think Jim is a bit more serious than I am about all of this, mostly because he's the one who has to commute to and from work on a daily basis. 45 minutes one way may not seem like a lot, but it really is - especially when Midnight rolls around and he's exhausted. It's a long ride home when you're tired and also when the weather is bad. He has a good, stable position at Nestle and is hoping to continue to move forward with the company - so moving somewhere a little closer would be ideal. Everything else (a bigger house, more land) is really just the icing on the cake if you ask me.
