Last weekend me, Jim and the kids went to an Open House in Seekonk. This house was originally listed a couple of months ago, and was what had prompted Jim to want to sell our house, but before we could schedule a viewing it was taken off the market. It was relisted about a week ago, for $30,000 less than the original price, so when we saw that there was an Open House, we jumped on it! Unfortunately we weren't the only ones who jumped on it - the Open House was FULL of people!! Both Jim and I really liked both the house and the land; the house needed minimal work and came with a garage that's about the size of our current backyard! The property is located on an acre of land, too - so plenty of space outdoors for all of Jim's "toys"! Set back from the main road, it's located on a quiet street that is rarely traveled on (perfect).
Jim and I decided to have our Realtor put an offer on the house for us right away, which required a bunch of scrambling and paperwork. With so many people at the Open House we knew that we had to get our bid on the table ASAP.
Our Realtor sent in our offer on Tuesday morning and said that we should hear something within 24 hours or less. I spent the rest of yesterday afternoon/evening feeling very anxious and stressed. It's rare for Jim to *really* like something enough to want to purchase it, so I knew that he was serious about getting this particular house and, because of that, I was really hopeful that this would work out for us.
I received the much anticipated email from Patty mid-morning today. Much to our disappointment, our bid was rejected. The seller had received a total of 3 separate bids. 1 of them was higher than ours and they didn't have to sell a house first so, understandably, the buyer accepted that bid. BUMMER!!
But I truly believe that everything happens for a reason, and the right house will present itself to us in time. For whatever reason, this particular house wasn't meant for us. I know that Jim feels both disappointed and discouraged, which sucks. As I've said numerous times before, he works so hard for our family and really deserves to have what he wants. He never takes hand outs. Infact, sometimes I think he has too strong of a work ethic for his own good!
We're only at the very beginning of this buying/selling adventure...
