The kids had a lot of fun bowling yesterday! Both Kyle and Bella are steadily improving on their skills. Kyle actually won one of the games yesterday! Mike took his car so I was able to leave a little early with the girls. We stayed for 1 1/2 games before Savannah started to show signs of needing a nap. As soon as we got home she went right to sleep, so it worked out perfectly.
Last night we had "game night" at Cub Scouts. I spent a few hours during the morning looking up fun, but simple, games to play with the boys. Most of the games require a whole group of kids but I did find a handful that are geared towards smaller numbers, which is perfect for my den seeing as how I only have a total of 4 boys. The kids had so much fun as we played a variety of fast paced games! I think their favorite was the "Shoe Race" - a game that I modified to make more fun. The original game rules were to just throw everyone's sneakers into a pile and on the count of 3 have them race to the pile, find their sneakers and race back to the finish line. I thought this would be too easy for the boys, though so I brought with me a whole shopping bag of misc. shoes, sneakers and boots. The boys had to give me their sneakers and then, while they waited out in the hallway, I "hid" their sneakers amongst the other shoes inside of the desks. The object of the game was to find your sneakers, put them on and get back to the "finish line" first. They had great fun as they played this particular game 3 times before agreeing to play something different! Suffice to say, our one hour meeting went by very quickly! I realized last night that we are moving at a rapid pace through the handbook - the handbook in which we need to use all the way up until next Feb!!! - so it's time to slow things down. I don't think this will be a problem anyways though because the spring activities are almost upon us now so some of the boys will be busy with baseball and soccer practices. I'm only able to teach Cub Scouts on specific days due to Kyle's Karate schedule so I'm anticipating fewer meetings in the near future.
So I'm stressing just a smidgen about an upcoming wedding that me, Jim and the kids are invited to. Jim is actually part of the wedding, so he will be dressed to the T in a top of the line Tuxedo. I'm having a lot of trouble finding something suitable to wear. I am not - nor have I ever been - a fan of dresses. I have too many curves in all the wrong spots. There's also almost always an issue with the length, given my *very* short legs, that I only seem to be conscience of when I'm in a dress (go figure). Rather than torturing myself trying on multiple dresses I've decided to look for a long skirt and top. Simple enough, one would think, but of course I'm having trouble finding something because I actually *need* it for a specific event! Frustrating! On a positive note, the wedding is taking place at 11:00A on a Sunday which means I can wear something light colored and spring-like, versus wearing something super fancy for an evening wedding. Even still, I want to be dressed super nice since Jim will be in a tuxedo. *sigh* Hopefully I'll find something soon!!
