Saturday was the Cub Scouts Blue & Gold event. Not only was it a big day for those Cub Scouts who "crossed over" to the Boy Scouts, but it was also an important day for the rest of the Cubs who "ranked up". Kyle earned his "Webelos" badge, which makes him a "Webelos II" now - only one more year until he's a Boy Scout!!
This morning we are attending our very first homeschooling group activity - a Valentines Day Bowling Party! We are looking forward to making some homeschooling friends and of course the kids are super excited to go bowling (Bella and Savannah have never been before)! In a couple of weeks we're attending a wildlife field trip over at the RISCPA, which I'm betting Bella will LOVE!
Savannah has a follow up appointment with the hand specialist tomorrow morning. Her thumb seems to have healed well! She has full use of it and doesn't seem to favor it at all, so I'm pretty sure she won't need any physical therapy (yay!).
Our meeting with the Real Estate Agent went very well. Her name is Patty and she's very down-to-earth, realistic, reputable and - most of all - motivated. She was quite impressed with the size of the house and more than once commented on how it's deceiving to look at from the outside. Jim's hard work should benefit us greatly. The open floor plan upstairs, along with the finished basement, should appeal to most buyers. The "problematic" selling area's are the small bathroom and kitchen, but she doesn't think that will be a "make it or break it" deal for buyers. We're able to list the house as a 3 bedroom but we have it set up as a 5 bedroom, so clearly there's lots of potential with the space that's available. Unlike our previous Real Estate Agent, Patty seemed quite optimistic. She made a great 1st impression and we're looking forward to working with her.
Our immediate game plan is to work on the few (minor) things needed in order to get the house in "listing" condition - mostly some fresh paint through-out the house (which is something that needs to be done anyways). Jim also needs to "de-clutter" his tool room downstairs - which will be quite a project. Lack of time is always a factor for Jim due to his busy work schedule so we really haven't committed to any specific time frame as to when we might list the house. We also need to look at the flip side of the coin, which is to find a suitable house to buy..and that's going to take some time as there aren't a whole lot of houses (that we can afford) up for sale in the areas in which we're looking at.
Valentines Day is on Friday so the kids have been busy making special little cards for each other. Bella loves using scissors and has been having a fun time cutting little hearts out of construction paper! Savannah's toddler related short attention span permits her from doing much more than scribbling on some pre-cut valentine hearts, but I think she'll enjoy sharing her little creations with her siblings on Friday..as will Kyle who admittedly doesn't have much interest in this particular holiday, but loves getting creative with arts & crafts supplies!
