With the miscarriage in my rear view mirror I was able to focus on my family's Blessed Celebration. I won't lie - I was more than a little stressed out about our big day. Father Codega didn't realize that Jim & I wanted to have our marriage blessed during the baptisms until a few days before, which meant I had to get a ton of paperwork together for him with very little time to spare! In turn, he had to get said paperwork verified & approved in order to proceed with our wishes. Talk about scrambling around in the 11th hour, but somehow everything fell into place - yet another sign that this was all 'meant to be'!
Once we got the paperwork out of the way I sat down to figure out the celebration menu - we kept our invitation list small but even still, we were expecting about 40-50 people. Due to financial reasons I had decided to try to make as much of the food as I could. I figured I'd just spend the Saturday before in the kitchen, cooking up a buffet of food. I had just about finalized the menu when my Dad called with an unexpected, awesome surprise. As his gift to us & the kids, he was going to cater the entire event himself!!
We woke up to an absolutely gorgeous day on Sunday, September 15th. The skies were bright blue - which was a huge relief seeing as how we had planned on having the party happen outdoors. My Dad arrived mid-morning & went straight to work in the kitchen while we headed off to the Church.
In hindsight we really should have kept the kids home from Mass that morning. Expecting them to sit still through the Mass & then through the ceremony was unrealistic. They sat quietly & behaved very well during the Mass - but when it came time for the ceremony they were full of energy & unwilling to sit still for more than 2 seconds. The girls LITERALLY ran laps around Father Codega while he blessed our marriage. They laughed, squealed & screamed whenever anyone would try to stop them. They finally calmed down when it was their turn to be in the spotlight - it was actually kind of strange how peaceful they became during the baptisms!! But really, it was a wonderful ceremony. Jim & I got to renew our vows before God, which was pretty awesome. And sure, the kids were wild at times, but it was typical Vargas family chaos for us and so it just felt *right*.

After the ceremony we returned home to find that my Dad had set up an entire buffet! The food was hot & ready to be served!! It was all so perfect.
Cramming the blessing of our marriage along with 3 baptisms into one (big) ceremony was anything but easy. We tried hard to coordinate the dates with the godparents, but it just wasn't possible. Father Codega needed someone to stand in for Kyle's godfather (Mr. Mike who was away with his wife Joan that weekend) so we were fortunate to find him a "proxy" godfather (Randy) and at the last minute (literally, THE last minute) we needed to appoint witnesses (Stuart & Melissa) to the blessing of our marriage. Kyle *hated* his "dressy" clothes & informed everyone that he was going to throw his tie into the paper shredder after church. Isabella's shoes were too big & Savannah's dress was too long - but the 3 of them looked absolutely beautiful for their special day.
And that night, for the first time in many weeks, I went to bed feeling at peace with my life in general. I went to bed feeling happy, light hearted & blessed. It's a feeling I'll always remember, yet will never be able to explain to anyone else. I'll forever cherish the memories made on September 15, 2013 for it truly was A Blessed Celebration!
