Today (and every day!) I am thankful for my life. I am thankful to be able to hear little feet running here, there & everywhere all-the-time, followed by the sounds of baby squeals, toddler giggles & the kind of silliness that comes with the territory of having an 8 yr old boy.
I am thankful for my loving, faithful husband who works so very hard to support our family. His strong work ethics make it possible for me to stay home & raise our children.
I am thankful that we share the same morals, values & goals in life.
I am thankful that in a world filled with bad, I am surrounded - each & every day - by good.
When my son woke up this morning he came running downstairs exclaiming "Happy Thanksgiving, Mama!" with the kind of enthusiasm that one might expect to hear on Christmas morning. He is excited because he knows he'll be spending today at his Grandfather's house & will get to see his Aunts, Uncle & Cousins. Yesterday he was saying how he can't wait for Christmas when family will sleep over on Christmas Eve & he'll see everyone at his Nana & Pop's on Christmas Day. He is 8 years old, and he 'gets it'. He understands that the holidays are not about shopping, spending money & getting presents. He understands that the holidays are about spending quality time with your family.
Both Jim & I are thankful that we're doing something right in raising our children. The path we've helped to put them on now is one we hope they will continue on for a long, long time. We're not naive' enough to believe that they'll never venture off this path, but we hope that they always find their way back to it.
I hope all of our friends & family have a very Happy Thanksgiving and remember that regardless of how you choose to spend today be sure to take the time to reflect on the things that you are thankful for.
