Bringing Home The Bacon Vs. Making The Bacon..

It's been just about a year or so since I became "unemployed".  Jim & I were just starting to feel somewhat financially secure when.....life happened.  I'm a firm believer in that everything happens for a reason, but the timing couldn't have been worse.  I received my last pay check shortly after we purchased our new van, and shortly before I gave birth to Savannah.
In an effort to get us back on track, Jim & I launched "Vargas & Son" which showcases the many talents that Jim possesses.  Within weeks Jim was getting busy & by the time Savannah arrived his days were booked solid for months.
I often tell people that Jim works a double shift 4-5 days per week because, in all reality, that's the truth.  I'd imagine this is what it would feel like if I were the wife of a Doctor.  Jim is in high demand all the time.  I'm constantly having to juggle his schedule & to be honest, it's starting to wear thin on all of us.  The kids & I don't get to see him for more than a few hours during the week.  I've taken on the role of being a single parent & that in itself is a full-time job!
The fact that I'm not contributing financially to my family has been weighing heavily on my mind lately.  Like a well oiled machine I keep my home running as smoothly as possible but the fact of the matter is that we wouldn't even have this home if not for all of the long hours Jim has to work in order for us to make ends meet.
Knowing that there is absolutely, positively, without a doubt NO WAY I could ever work outside of our home I've decided to explore some other options.  For starters I posted an ad on Craigs List today offering temporary summer childcare.  I honestly don't think I will get any bites but I feel good about at least making some sort of an effort to generate an income.  Also, many of Kyle's friends seem to be struggling a bit in school so I'm thinking of launching a little math & reading program to help get kids where they need to be for next year.  Successfully homeschooling Kyle has really helped to boost my confidence.  He's reading at a 6th grade level & is doing math at an advanced 3rd grade level so I know I'm doing something right.  And finally, I am going to put my creative side to the test & spend some time making things.  I don't want to say yet what it is I will be making, but I will post pictures of stuff as I complete it.  None of these things are going to bring in much money, but something is always better than nothing.
If nothing takes & everything falls through then so be it but I'm really hoping that I can bring home at least a little bacon, and eat it too!!
