Changes

Through the years my blog has taken on many different "looks". It changes as my life changes. And so, with the recent arrival of our newest baby, I present to you "One Mother's Journey Through Parenthood"..
Life with a 7 yr old, a 2 yr old and an Infant: At times it's overwhelmingly hectic and busy. It's demanding and difficult. It's often chaotic, sometimes loud and most of the time exhausting. But it's beautiful. It's crazy beautiful. And it's mine.
I wear many hats through out the day. I'm a wife, mother, teacher, cook, maid, accountant, taxi-driver, daughter, sister, friend..just to name a few!
As I sit here typing this with one hand I'm feeding Savannah with the other. I'm watching Bella fill a toy truck with her goldfish snacks (that she begged for the minute I sat down to feed the baby..even though I KNEW she wasn't *really* hungry for them seeing as how she'd just finished her dinner..). And I'm listening to Kyle play "make-pretend" Transformers with one of his friends.
It is only 6:30p, but I'm tired. My day started at 4:00a. Kyle & Bella will be sound asleep by 8:00p, Savannah by 9:00p. But my day won't end until after 11:00p, for there are toys to be picked up, laundry to be washed, bottles to be made and I need to take a shower. Every day is so busy, so VERY busy. But I wouldn't change it for the world..
A few of today's highlights: (The Good, The Bad & The Ugly)
Kyle received a lengthy letter from "Uncle" Rick. Rick used some pretty big, fancy words but Kyle didn't get discouraged. He sounded out the words he didn't know & asked me to explain to him what they meant. This is a big improvement for him. Normally he skips over words that he doesn't know how to pronounce or that he doesn't know the meaning of. I absolutely love the fact that Rick took the time to incorporate Kyle's interests into the letter, making it all the more interesting & exciting for Kyle to read!
Isabella has learned how to partially sing the ABC song & spent the better part of her morning singing it to me. She's learning how to pronounce more & more words on a daily basis. It's adorable to hear her talk! Also today, she went down for her nap without so much as a peep! No screaming, no crying, no tears! As you may have heard, she's been going thru a horrible phase lately where she screams at nap/bedtime & then wakes up crying during the night. She's always been such a great sleeper, so this phase completely took us by surprise. That being said, she's been showing some signs of jealousy lately so we're attributing this phase to that. However, last night she (finally) went to bed without screaming & she also slept straight thru the night, too. So perhaps she's back on track again? We'll find out soon enough!
Savannah had trouble napping today. She would fall asleep & then wake up 10-15 minutes later. She never fell into a lengthy deep sleep, so she's more than ready for bed now. But if you know me than you know I'm very strict about enforcing schedules/routines around here therefore I'm working hard to keep her up until at least 8:30p (normally she goes to bed at 9). She's been on a good schedule & sleeping thru the night since she was 5 weeks old. I'm not about to screw it up now!
All in all, with the exception of Savannah requiring 2 back to back baths due to diaper malfunctions (I'll never understand how something so gross & disgusting can come out of such a cute little baby!) & with the exception of Isabella dropping something (still not quite sure WHAT) down the drain in the bath tub AND with the exception of Kyle & his friend having a "popcorn fight" downstairs that required 30 minutes of some serious vacuuming to clean up, our day was a good one. It was full of laughter, a few tears & as always, LOTS OF LOVE.
