Memorial Day Weekend In Vermont!

On Friday afternoon Jim & I loaded up 2 kids, 1 dog, 2 ATV's, 3 suitcases, 2 bags full of toys, the playpen, stroller, a huge bin full of food & drinks & at least 4 other misc. bags full of things that we "might need"...and off we headed to Wilmington, VT for our very first "vacation" since Bella arrived..
I've been going to VT since I was a very young girl - Grampy owns a house there which is located right across the street from Uncle Dan & Auntie Joan's house.
Mt. Snow is close by so Grampy rents his house out to the ski club during the winter months. When the warmer weather rolls around he spends just about every weekend in Vermont, soaking up the fresh air & enjoying some well deserved R & R!
I've always loved vacationing in Wilmington. The minute the car stops in the driveway my mind completely clears away anything related to bills, stress, work, etc etc. I enter "relax mode" & remain that way during the entire time we're there. And really, I think that's true for everyone who goes there!
Wilmington is even more special to me now because it's where Jim & I got married. My wedding day brings back SO many memories!! It's great to just sit on the lawn & think back to all of the things that happened on that memorable day...
So on Friday we were ALL excited to leave for VT, especially Kyle who kept saying things like "I'm the luckiest kid in the world to be going to VT!", "I love Vermont!", "Vermont is the BEST place EVER in the whole world!"..
It takes us about 3 hours to get from Rhode Island to Vermont but this time around it took us 4 hours due to the fact that we had to stop twice for Bella. We've now learned that she can make it for exactly 2 hours before she gets super fussy.
When we finally arrived at the house, around 8:30p, Kyle stepped out of the truck & said "I'm so happy that we're on Vermont ground!!". He was just super, super, SUPER excited to be there! So excited, infact, that he did not fall asleep until around 10:00p (very late for him!) & then he woke up at 4:30a!!!!!
Regardless of the time, Saturday morning found us all in good, happy spirits - although I was concerned about Kyle's appearance - he seemed very pale to me & was refusing to eat. Still, he was non-stop all day. Towards the end of the day he finally admitted that he had a stomach-ache. Poor guy. He ended up getting sick only once, but he hardly ate all weekend.
Here he is trying to eat a little something, after having been running full speed ahead on an empty stomach for way too long..

Eventually his stomach settled a bit & he was able to enjoy the rest of our long weekend!
Jim took him for a ride up in the woods on his ATV:

Bella loved being outside & was fascinated by all of the trees & flowers!

She was full of smiles all weekend! She spent loads of time outside, soaking up the warm sun & fresh air!

Kyle & Jim both spent hours riding their ATV's ... boy did they have fun with their "toys"!

More ATV fun:

Grampy & Bella hangin' out:

Kyle had a blast riding his ATV up & down hills:

On May 30th, 1 day before Bella turned 10 months old, she got her 1st tooth! On that day she also learned how to crawl the "right" way!!

That's her "Who Me?" innocent look:

Jim & I took the kids to the lake one morning - the water was surprisingly warm! Kyle jumped right in:

Bella also enjoyed being at the lake:

Isn't this picture adorable?:

Daddy was the lifeguard:

Fishing for the 1st time:

The one thing we noticed was that Bella slept a lot outside! I guess all of that fresh air knocked her out!

Daddy showed Kyle how to put the worm on the hook properly:

I didn't get the "before" picture on film - but while fishing Kyle slipped & fell into the water - it was hilarious!

Relaxin by the river:

Delila also loved being in the water!:

All in all, with the exception of Kyle feeling a bit under the weather, we had a wonderful time in Vermont & were all feeling kind of sad when it was time to come home - but we'll go back again soon!
