Kyle's 6th Birthday Celebration(s)!!

I accidently uploaded these photo's in the wrong order - so we're going to work backwards here!

On May 18th you turned 6 yrs old!! Here's a recap of your special day:

Birthday Breakfast: Jello.. Yep. Just Jello. That's what you requested!

Birthday Lunch: Pizza (that's more like it!!)

Birthday Dinner: Grilled Cheese & a Salad + a piece of Willy Wonka Cake at Chelo's. Papa Joe & Nana joined us for dinner. We had the waiters & waitresses sing Happy Birthday to you - at first you looked like you were going to cry, but then you smiled! Afterwards you told Daddy that you thought those people were crazy! Hahaha!

Nana & Kyle:

Yummy cake:

Through-out the day (inbetween doctor's appts) we gave you your birthday gifts from "us" (me, Daddy & Isabella)

This was your gift from Isabella...a "bad guy" Transformer:

You were pretty happy with it!

This was your gift from Daddy.. a Star Wars the Clone Wars DVD:

I got you a Nerf Shooter set - it comes with two blasters that shoot foam balls/darts. You love it!!

After your last Dr's appt of the day we took you to the Providence Place Mall where we played some video games at Dave And Busters. You had a blast playing all sorts of fun games!!

Bella enjoyed "people watching":

You enjoyed playing lots of fun games:

Playing a Star Wars game:

Our "big" gift to you..A new, bigger bike!!: (I must make a note here.. Daddy had been working ALL day on the house - trimming the roof, painting the shutters etc. He was so super busy yet still he put down his tools to take you for a quick bike ride around the neighborhood! THAT'S what I call a GREAT Dad!!)

We had a big birthday party for you on Saturday, May 15th at Haines Park. The weather was absolutely GORGEOUS - warm & sunny! I must admit that the day didn't exactly start off as planned. The Jeep broke down while I was out picking up some last minute items for your big day. Daddy came to the rescue, in the TransAm. The TransAm is not exactly "roomy" so fitting 12 balloons, 15 swords & a birthday cake into it was more than a little interesting..never the less, we managed to figure it out!

Here's a list of those who joined us at the park to help celebrate your big birthday:

Me, Daddy, Isabella

Auntie Carole

Nana, Papa Joe

Uncle David, Auntie Melanie, Cousins Lawrence, Michelle & Juliana

Uncle Frank & his girlfriend, Ivy

Uncle John & Auntie Kim

Mr. Mike & Joan

Gavin & his Mom

Riley & his Mom

Vincent & his Dad

Josh, Beth, Harry & Ellie

Pat, Colleen, Kael & Braeden

We all enjoyed some pizza, snacks, cake & candy!

And here are just a few of the party pics taken, in random order!
Star Wars Cake:

Enjoying some pizza & snacks:

Playing Pin The Tail On The Donkey which was a HUGE hit although keeping a bunch of little kids "in line" proved to be challenging!

Races:

We played Simon Says - which took much longer than I expected! It wasn't easy to trick some of you!!

Playing with some "real" Light Sabers before the rest of the other kids came:

You guys all had a blast trying to break open this seemingly unbreakable Pinata!! Every year I learn something new when it comes to hosting birthday parties. This year I learned that blind folds are NOT needed.. I love this picture of Braeden - he's looking mighty aggressive as he swings at the Pinata!!

Cousin Michelle got in some good whacks too:

Everyone got multiple turns, which was great!

What fun you had swinging at that Pinata! I must admit that I feared for my life. I was standing right next to everyone as they took a swing & dodged being hit at least 2 dozen times..

So seeing as how the theme of the party was Star Wars, I invested in these GREAT foam swords. They were $1 a piece at Target - & boy did you guys LOVE them! Best part - you can't injure someone with a foam sword!!!
Everyone had a nice time - talking, eating & simply enjoying the gorgeous day!

The foam swords were a huge success! Thankfully I bought PLENTY of them!!

Josh & Ellie:

Isn't this just the sweetest picture of Daddy & Bella?? And let me just tell you - Bella was SO good at the party! Auntie Carole really helped out quite a bit with her - she took care of her before, during & after the party so we could have our hands free to do the things we needed to do!

Everyone loved all of the presents you got - and you sure did get a lot of them! From Star Wars action figures to Transformers, Super Soakers to a Slip N Slide, Workbooks to Reading Books, Pajama's to Swimsuits - you made out GREAT!!!!

Checking out your new 3D chalk - which is AWESOME! The 3D glasses work with any kind of chalk - which is great seeing as how we have lots of it!!!

Getting a group shot proved to be challenging, but this came out pretty darn cute!!!
In other news, you had another Cardiologist appt & a Pediatrician appt on your actual birthday. Both appt's went well. We're still waiting to hear back from the cardiologist regarding the echocardiogram but we don't anticipate hearing any bad news! The initial meeting with the cardiologist was spent discussing a lot of things. You have 3 issues with your heart - there's a problem with your mitral valve, aortic valve & aorta in general. The biggest concern is your mitral valve which leaks a small amount. All of your valves are growing abnormally. The question is whether or not the mitral valve will continue to grow with you or will eventually stop growing. If this happens, we trade leakage for blockage which, in the cardiologists words, would be like jumping from the frying pan into the fire. Another big concern is the fact that you have Mitral Stenosis - a very rare heart disease in itself but VERY uncommon in children. The cardiologist really has no idea which way things will go. He says its kind of like a wild card! But.. So far, all is good!
Your Pediatrician appt went well too. They took some bloodwork to test for 17 different allergies & hopefully find the answer to what is causing your daily hives. You're 38 lbs & 44" - skinny & small, but healthy!! The Dr was highly impressed by your ability to read & write! He's happy with how well you're thriving, as are we!
So, in closing, you had a wonderful 6th birthday - full of laughter & memories, as usual! You're one special little boy!!!
