Jim has encountered some rather time consuming issues through out the week but fortunately he has his father by his side who is always full of good ideas & suggestions. The first major problem was the support structures the building inspector required us to get. Two 32 foot long pieces of wood had to get to the top of the roof. Each piece of wood weighed approx 250-300 lbs. These next few pictures show exactly how Jim & his Dad managed to get the wood to the roof. It was an all day event just to get the wood TO the roof. It was another all day event getting the wood INSIDE.
The Staging goes up..

Father & Son start to break through the roof..

The first layers come off & Jim is able to come through the roof, literally.

In comes my reliable, trusty Jeep. Heavy ropes were tied to the Jeep, working as an anchor..
The Vargas boys start to map out their plan..

The goal here is to get the wood onto the ladder & from there slide it onto the staging..

More than once Jim's Dad has given me a slight heart attack. Here he is seen balancing between the roof, staging & the 250-300 lb piece of wood..

Up goes the wood, as planned..

Once the wood was in place, the guys tied the ropes around the big pine tree's in the back to hold them in place! Pretty creative, but also pretty scary looking!
Once the wood was in place they could finally move on to other things!

Here's Jim's friend Walter breaking through some of the roof!

Could Jim get any closer to the edge?!

I guess by this point any fears Jim may have once had about heights are long gone..

The goal here was to get the wood to rest on the edge of the roof. Then Jim & John would help their Dad pull it through...

Papa Joe decided he didn't want to wait for help. He grabbed hold of the wood & pulled it through long before John even made his way up the stairs to help.

Another Vargas, Jim's brother John, stopped by on his lunch break to help get some big pieces of plywood up to the roof..

Plenty more pictures to follow! The yard, as you can see, is in rough shape. I'm thinking we'll have plenty of wood to burn in the firepit from now until eternity?!
