It seems like a lot of our family & friends have created blogs to keep everyone updated on the events going on in their lives so we've decided to join in on the fun!

As some of you may have already heard, our little boy Kyle is now in Nursery School!
Jim & I decided to enroll Kyle in this particular school after hearing so many positive things about how the program is run. For starters, there are only 10 children in Kyle's class. There is one teacher & two aides so PLENTY of adult supervision & attention. The school takes pride in providing a very fun & playful learning enviornment for young children. While they focus on some basic academic skills their main focus is on socialization skills - teaching the children how to interact in groups and individually...sharing, taking turns etc.

So on Kyle's first day Jim & I were very concerned that he would have some seperation anxiety issues about being dropped off. Afterall, he's been home with the both of us since birth! However, much to our surprise & delight he barely glanced over his shoulder at us when we were leaving! He was so excited to embark on this new adventure! The picture below really captures his excitement in the moment..

After dropping him off Jim & I spent the next 2 1/2 hours worrying endlessly. Was he having fun? Was he upset that we were gone? If he doesn't like snack will he throw a fit, or remember to use his manners? We were pitiful & gave our beautiful little boy no credit at all! When we picked him up (we were 15 minutes early) we were thrilled to see him out on the playground running around with a bunch of his classmates. His teacher (Mrs. Brown) was absolutely thrilled with how well he fit in, in such a short amount of time, considering the fact that he'd never experienced anything like this before. She went on to tell us that although he is one of the youngest in his class he is by far one of the most outgoing. He participated in all of the activities & engaged in lots of play with the other children. His first day was a huge success!! Although he only goes to school for a few hours 3 days per week he genuinly ENJOYS going. Every day he asks if it's a "school day". He goes into the class with a smile & he leaves the class with a smile. What more could any parent ask for?
