I can't believe how quickly this week passed by! Today is Kyle's last day of camp at the East Providence Parks and Recreation. With a few minor issues, he has had a fantastic week! He gets to go on an all-day field trip today to an indoor rock climbing facility which is bound to be super fun!! I'm really glad I was able to overcome my initial anxieties about sending him to day camp. Don't get me wrong, I still experience a "nervous belly" when I drop him off, but knowing that he's having so much fun makes me feel better about my decision!
Going to camp all day has also been a bit of a learning experience for Kyle. He's been exposed to a large, diverse group of children - some of whom are pretty "rough around the edges". Earlier this week a little boy (younger than Kyle) dropped the "F Bomb" while playing Dodge Ball. He's also taken notice (as have I) of how many kids are disrespectful. The very first day I picked Kyle up one of his camp leaders - Brian - commented on how well behaved and polite Kyle is. Another leader approached me to say that she was so impressed when they went over to the library and Kyle thanked her for taking him there. As I've commented on many, many times before - good manners seem to be almost foreign amongst children these days. I am so happy that Kyle is a rarity and also that it's noticed by others. I know that his polite ways and good manners set him apart from the majority of kids these days, but - as I've said before - sometimes being a little different can be a very good thing.
I will admit that I'm glad today is the last day. One week of camp is plenty! By the time Kyle gets home he's exhausted, snappy and short on patience. All week he's gone to bed a full hour earlier than usual simply because I know that he needs the sleep. With the exception of this morning (when everyone decided that 6A would be a lovely time to wake up for the day), our mornings have been super rushed with me trying to pack Kyle's lunch/backpack and get everyone dressed, fed and out the door by 8:15A. So it will be nice to get back to our normal, more laid back routine.
I had an uneventful, easy "in and out" doctor's appointment yesterday for a routine check-up. Things continue to progress normally, albeit rapidly! I continue to feel pretty good, except for when it gets humid out. The humidity bothers me in a serious way - it makes me feel nauseous and cranky. Earlier this week I had to turn the a/c on (for the first time this summer!) because the humidity was unbearable. I lost my appetite and couldn't sleep - not a good combo!! - so I turned the air on and went into hibernation for a couple of days! Fortunately the humidity has since lifted and we're back to gorgeous, sunny, less humid days and nights. Whew!
In a couple of weeks I have to go over to Woman & Infants for the Diabetes Testing, Blood Work and Rhogam shot. The diabetes testing alone takes about an hour so I'm just going to have Jim drop me off and I'll call him when I'm finished with everything. I see the Dr. for a routine check-up a few days after that and then my check-ups will start to increase with me going every 2 weeks for a while, then every week. So far this pregnancy is going by fast but I'm sure it won't feel that way come September when I'm as big as a house! I already feel HUGE but apparently I'm the only one who seems to think that I've gained a lot of weight. The Dr. didn't even blink an eye at the numbers on the scale yesterday!
I've been trying to plug away at getting things organized around here before we head to Maine soon, but if there is one thing I can honestly say about this pregnancy it's that it has made me feel very, very, VERY lazy. While I do get bursts of energy periodically through out the day
