The First Trimester

As I near the end of my First Trimester, I'm finally starting to feel more relaxed about this pregnancy.  All of the big prenatal appointments are done for a while; I had my blood work drawn at Woman & Infants on Tuesday and then yesterday I had my first ultrasound.  Even though Dr. G was able to listen to the baby's heartbeat last week, I was still a nervous wreck going in for the ultrasound.  I was fortunate to be able to get the first appointment of the day so I only had to wait around for a few minutes versus a few hours.  My stomach was in knots as I waited impatiently to be seen! As soon as the technician began the ultrasound I could easily see our new baby on the big screen, with a tiny little head and even tinier arm buds and legs!  At 10 weeks, 1 day the baby seems to be developing normally -- what a relief!!  The whole procedure took less than 10 minutes (it's always a good sign when things move quickly) and the technician said that while she couldn't diagnose anything, everything seems as it should for this stage of pregnancy.  She said the Dr. or nurse would call me at some point this week, but I'm not expecting any surprises.
My routine once a month check-up's will start at the end of this month.  I believe I'll have one more big ultrasound at the end of next month - the one where the technician will make sure the baby's heart is growing normally.  We will likely find out the sex of the baby at that time, too.  A lot of people are guessing that I'm carrying a boy.  I haven't the slightest idea but I really don't have any preference.  Either way we'll have to go shopping because Kyle was born in the Spring and the girls were born in the Summer -- this will be our first Fall baby.  Fortunately most of our baby furniture is neutral colored but there are a couple of things we would need to purchase if we have a boy -- we'd need a new bedding set for the crib & a new car seat, too -- the current ones we have are hot pink, haha.  Anyways, we'll cross that exciting bridge once we get to it.  In the meantime here's the first photo of our new baby (good luck trying to see the little peanut):
