I had my routine check-up at the OBGYN's last week. At 14 weeks things are looking just as they should. The baby has a strong heart beat and is in comfortable living quarters, with plenty of room to spare..for now! I've gained 3 lbs thus far but I had gained back 10 lbs in between the miscarriage and this pregnancy so I didn't start off at the weight I would have liked to. Oh well. I started walking again (for the first time in months!) on Friday - just 1 mile around the neighborhood. I did another mile yesterday and will do a mile again today, too. It feels good to be active again, especially after having been SO INCREDIBLY SLUGGISH during my 1st trimester! Don't get me wrong, I still spend much of my time feeling exhausted, but it's nothing like it was before.
My next check-up isn't until the morning after Kyle's birthday. I'll schedule my ultrasound at that appointment, which will tell us the gender of the baby. Jim and I honestly don't have any preference as to whether it's a girl or a boy. We already have the names picked out; Eliza Jean for a girl and Sebastian James for a boy. Very few people like the name Sebastian (the grandparents are mortified since it's not an Italian name!!) but it's a name we've liked since I was pregnant with Bella and we've long since developed a thick skin against name criticism!
So far the kids remain excited about having a new brother or sister. I don't think they really care about the gender....yet! Bella seems the most fascinated about my swelling stomach. She asks me every day if the baby is coming yet and recently she asked me if there were toys in my belly for the baby to play with -- so cute!!
