Our house is looking much nicer these days; so far Jim has painted the hallway, the staircase walls and the living room. He has all of the flooring needed to do the bathroom and we've *finally* agreed on a kitchen floor. I spent an insane amount of time organizing the big closet in the hallway and I finally rid the nursery of all of the girls toys (they had turned that room into a 2nd playroom!). I've also been trying to go through the kids stuff and set aside things that they either don't use anymore or have duplicates of. I found a local Rhode Island website where you can list and sell things for free. So far I've only listed 3 items, but within an hour I sold 1 of them - a really nice Little Tikes Desk & Chair set. We got it used for Kyle when he was 3 and for whatever reason it's done nothing but sit and collect dust for years. The kids prefer to do their arts & crafts stuff at the kitchen table or on the living room floor. So, little by little I'm chipping away at some of the clutter that is hidden behind doors in this house ;) My next big project will be to tackle the storage area in the basement. I've been putting it off for no reason other than it is seriously going to be a *very* big, time consuming project and one that would be a heck of a lot easier if I didn't have the kids under my feet. It's something that I could do at night, after the kids are in bed, but I'm tired and out of motivation come that time! So for now I'm working on smaller, more manageable projects that I can do during Savannah's nap.
The freshly painted walls and organized closets look great. I'm glad that we're sprucing things up just in time for Spring. I can't wait for Jim to do the kitchen floor..it's really going to change the whole look of that tiny room. Eventually I'd love to get new wood cabinets. I'm actually wondering if maybe Jim could build them himself..
