May 18, 2004

On May 18th, 2004 I had been back & forth to the hospital 2 times in less than two hours between 4a-6a.  The Triage Doctor (who looked 10 years younger than me & who I wished death upon at least 5 times in 10 minutes flat..) told me that I was in labor, but not 'good enough' labor.  I was in pain, but not 'good enough' pain.
By 8a the pain was unbearable.  I went to find Jim, who was out in the driveway washing his TransAm.  I told he I wanted to go back to the hospital.  He responded with "We were JUST there.  It's not time yet." I spit a few choice words at him.  He then said "Let me just finish polishing the tires.."      If looks could kill, he would've been dead on the spot.
We were greeted by the SAME Triage Doctor an hour later.  The minute he walked into the room I said to him "I don't care what kind of drugs you give to me...give me an epidural or give me street drugs but I am NOT going home until I'm heavily medicated.  15 minutes later I was admitted.
I had a long & difficult labor but finally, shortly after 11p, Kyle was born.  He was skinny, long, bald & cute.  The second Jim & I held him we 'officially' became grown-ups!  Our lives changed forever - for the better.
Happy Birthday to our favorite son - Kyle James!  We love you more than you'll ever know & are so very thankful to have you as our son.
