The children are doing great!! Kyle continues to enjoy Kindergarten & is starting to tell us more about what he actually does during his mornings there. I'm extremely pleased with his teacher, Mrs. Andrade. She definately understands that these kids are only 5 yrs old. Everything she does with them is completely age appropriate - right down to the amount of homework she sends home. I've heard horror stories about kindergarteners getting bombarded with homework early on, so this was a big concern of mine. Kyle has one sheet of homework monday-thursday (no hw on fridays). It generally takes him no longer than 10-15 minutes to complete the work. He LOVES to learn new things & has recently taken a HUGE interest in math. Almost every night we do "math work", per his request! We work together, which he loves. We take a piece of paper & give each other "work" - i.e. 4+2=?, 6-3=? etc. We spent one week working on addition & one week working on subtraction. Now we incorporate both into our work :) It really amazed me how quickly he picked up on this!
Isabella is also learning new things - she has discovered her tongue which keeps her amused for hours on end, hee hee! She's also discovered her hands & stares at them in wonder - slowly moving her fingers around. She's taken a real interest in her surroundings - the mobile in her crib keeps her quite occupied(check out the video below!). She LOVES her playmat & has already started to swat at the toys dangling from it which I find simply amazing given her young age, but then again, she seems to be hitting milestones pretty early on - she started rolling at 5 weeks! The biggest news I have to share, which I'm very excited about!, is that she has now slept thru the night 3 nights in a row!!! On tuesday she slept from 8:30p-7:30a! Then on wednesday she slept from 8:30p-6:15a & last night she slept from 8:00p-4:00a. Pretty good, for a 9 week old!!! Today she had her 2 month check-up where she received TONS of shots which was pretty traumatizing for the both of us. She cried real tears & got sick all over the place because she was so worked up. Even the nurses felt bad for her! On a positive note: She is now weighing in at 11.8 lbs & is 22" in length. She is on a prescription for reflux but other than that, she got a clean bill of health :)
I started working again this week which has been challenging, but we're falling into a good routine. It will take time seeing as how between the hours of 9a-4p we have our own two to care for as well as two others - so in total a 2 month old, 5 month old, 4 yr old & a 5 yr old, yikes!! Jim is a BIG help though so for the most part things run smoothly, or as smoothly as possible! Obviously the babies require the most amount of time & care. The older two tend to keep each other occupied, but still need lots of supervision. Usually Jim & I split up so one of us is in charge of the babies while one of us is in charge of the older two. It's definately a two person job! But it's a rewarding one too :)
Well, that's it for now! Enjoy the pictures & video!!
