Welcome To The World...

On Saturday, Feb 28th at 11:11pm, weighing in at 6 lbs, 10 oz little Miss Natalie Elizabeth Hines came "rushing" into the world - quite literally..

My sister in law Gina had been experiencing contractions since early that morning. She went to see her doctor in the afternoon and despite the fact that she was 2 cm dialated and the head was very low, her doctor sent her home. She continued to have contractions through out the remainder of the day and then finally, around 9p, she decided she'd better get to the hospital.

Upon arrival at the hospital it was discovered that she was already 9 cm dialated! Pretty exciting, except for one major thing. Because she was already 9 cm (out of 10) dialated there was no time for the glorious epidural. There was no time for any pain relief at all infact. Gina was forced to give birth naturally - no pain medication, no drugs, no nothing. It was a horrible experience for her - she later described the pain to me as being unbearable. Just the worst pain she'd ever felt in her entire life. Luckily, Natalie didn't take very long to make her way out!! We figure this was Natalie's way of making sure that her big sister Valerie wasn't the only one who came into the world with a story to tell :)

In the end, both Mama and baby are doing well. Infact, they are already home and Gina is well on her way to making a full recovery! Big sister Valerie (who is really quite little, seeing as how she's only 14 months older than her baby sister) seems to be oblivious to all that is going on...for now at least! She was a very good girl for Nana and Papa Joe - who I'm sure enjoyed spending so much time with her while Gina and Brad were in the hospital!

Congratulations Brad, Gina and Valerie on the newest addition to your already beautiful, perfect family and a warm, loving welcome to Natalie Elizabeth! We can't wait to meet her in person!!

Congratulations to Gina and family! What an absolutely adorable, precious little girl! They are so lucky. Before long, Gina will be so tired, she'll forget about all the pain of labor & delivery- haha!
