Kyle Stories

Kyle has been learning about rhyming at school and has taken a real interest in Dr. Seuss stories. He decided he wanted to make his very own Dr. Seuss hat - pretty creative! He made it a point to write his name on the front of the hat so that people wouldn't get him confused with the REAL "cat in the hat"!
In other news, we enjoyed a beautiful day outdoors yesterday in the sunny, 60 degree weather! We were outside from 10am-4pm soaking up the sun and fresh air!! We cooked up some hot dogs and burgers on the grille and basically lounged around in the yard. Kyle kept himself occupied with his PowerWheels Jeep and ATV, bubbles, sidewalk chalk and the numerous cars and toys strewn through out the yard. Nana came over for a little while too which was nice! After much discussion Jim decided to take the training wheels off of Kyle's bike. Technically he has outgrown his bike, but it's the perfect size for him to learn how to ride it without training wheels before we buy him a bigger one. He can easily touch the ground with his feet and he feels comfortable on it too, seeing as how he's had it for a few years now. So mid-afternoon we ventured off onto some side roads to see if Kyle was ready to ride a 2 wheeler. Much to our delight, after about 20 minutes he got the hang of it!! He was all over the road, due to lack of good balance!, but for the most part he kept himself upright and only took a couple of "wipe outs" (as he called them) onto the ground. I think Jim lost 10 pounds jogging alongside next to him! He really did a great job of making Kyle feel safe - he was quick to grab the back of Kyle's shirt whenever he was close to falling. Only once did Kyle take what I would consider to be a "bad fall". He was riding on his own and panicked when he realized Jim wasn't RIGHT next to him. So he took his one of his hands off of the handlebars and went to reach for Jim - losing his balance altogether and face planting on the cement, ouch!! Surprisingly there wasn't any blood or serious wounds and Kyle got back on his bike after a few minutes of encourgement and coaxing. Overall he did a great job! Next time we'll take a little video of it - he looks so funny pumping his feet as fast as he can to keep the bike going!!
It's hard to believe that our little guy is not quite so little anymore (although at only 32 pounds he's going to be in a car seat until he's a teenager!!) and will be turning 5 in May!!!
